No problem. We had some increases in burglaries for the first 1 1/2 months of 2010, but we dismantled and arrested some key suspects. We still have our ongoing burglary tactical plan in place, constantly modifying it to adjust to the methods used by our bad guys. Other areas, like Taylor Ranch and Ladera, are similar to your neighborhood in regards to offenders targeting multiple vehicles within a small geographical area. They do this because of many reasons, mainly due to the abundance of opportunities in a concentrated area. Taylor Ranch got hit hard on auto burglaries this week. Please try and make your vehicles and homes less attractive to target. Lighting conditions and removing valuables from vehicles generally dissuade burglars from wanting to break in. For residential burglaries, we are focusing on environmental factors that meke homes more attractive targets. Encourage neighbors to remove door hangers promptly, pick up papers early, move trash cans away from curb asap. Furthermore, front doors are getting kicked in more, recently. I suggest reinforcing the door jamb with a stronger deadbolt latch (female end in door frame/jamb). No matter what quality the door is, if the frame and jamb are not reinforced well, the front door will fly in easier when it is kicked. Security (Wrought iron) doors are nice, and leaving a tv or radio on loud enough to be heard at the front and back doors was a successful strategy years ago, as a potential burglar might feel that someone is home but they can't hear the door. Have neighbors keep an eye out for you and reciprocate. Please keep calling in potential suspicious persons and activity, as well. Often these small leads can turn into major arrests and intelligence for us. Thanks.
