Councilor Lewis needs your help to support this bill. It will be heard at the city council meeting on Monday May 3rd. Please come down to the meeting at 5pm and sign up to speak in support of this bill.
TODAY April 29th, the media will be in front of Volcano Vista HS at 3:30pm to draw attention to this issue. Come out and bring signs that indicate your support!

Councilor Lewis’ Resolution (R-10-44) is scheduled to be heard for final action at the May 3, 2010 City Council Meeting. This resolution allocates a total of $665,000 for safety improvements at the Northwest Education Corridor around Tierra Antigua Elementary School, Tony Hillerman Middle School, and Volcano Vista High School. This will be in addition to the $6.9 million that Councilor Lewis has worked for to complete Unser Blvd. These allocations will improve traffic safety measures along Paseo del Norte, Rainbow Blvd and Universe Blvd, including, but not limited to lighting on Universe Blvd, pedestrian safety improvements, and a traffic signal at the intersection of Rainbow Blvd and Paseo del Norte.
Channel 4 will be in front of Volcano Vista High School at 3:30 tomorrow, Thursday, April 29. Please make sure all concerned parents and students are aware of this event. Jeff Maher, with Channel 4, will be conducting interviews, but even if you do not feel comfortable being on TV, please come to show your support.
Your involvement makes a difference to help the city understand the great need in this area for improved safety. Please also join us at the City Council meeting on May 3rd to show your support for this bill! The meeting will begin at 5:00 and will be held in the Vincent E. Griego Chambers - please sign up at the beginning of the meeting to speak either at public comment or when the bill is heard. Each speaker will be given 2 minutes to speak. If you have any questions, please call Councilor Lewis' office at 768-3189.
Please forward this along to anyone who might be interested in coming to support this legislation! Councilor Lewis thanks you for your support.
