We Are Neighbors Helping Neighbors We are not the HOA & we do not receive your quarterly dues. • We seek to promote a better neighborhood through group action, so that the quality of life shall be in keeping with the needs and interests of our neighbors. • We work for roads, schools, parks and emergency services. • We are all volunteer. • Membership is open to all of our neighbors– renters and owners($15 yr), businesses($100). Membership is voluntary. • We inform and educate through VRNA e-news, The Windows newsletter and this web site. • We testify before City Council, County Commission, APS and other legislative bodies on behalf of our neighbors. We maintain a working relationship with all public and elected representatives. • We participate in APD's Crime Alert Notification System. • We provide research on items of interests to the neighborhood. • We do cooperative planning with the city, county and the development community, ensuring that only quality projects are built. • We provide town hall meetings with your elected representatives and public officials. • We encourage active participation in elections by registering voters and providing voter education. We have registered over 400 voters. We provide refreshments during large election turnouts. • We were successful, along with other groups, in lobbying APS to move VR Elementary School construction up 2 years. We are working on the new high school and middle school and a reliever for VRES. • We will continue to fight for Paseo Del Norte, McMahon, Unser and Universe extensions. A functioning grid system is essential for quality of life, emergency response and a good transit system. • We work with the city to improve neighborhood traffic management. Speed Boards have just been installed as a test for speed mitigation. • We are working to acquire a grocery store and other commercial services for VR. We are working with cell companies to improve service and we are encouraging stealth towers. • Our Board members serve on many important committees, boards and task forces: Mid Region Council of Governments Public Input Committee on Transportation, Unser Middle/Paseo Citizens Advisory Committee, West Side Roads Task Force, Planned Growth Strategy Implementation Task Force, Ventana Ranch Elementary School Design Committee, New NW High School Design Committee, Secretary for Westside Coalition of Neighborhood Associations, APS Capital Strategy Task Force, APS Capital Master Plan Review Committee. • We are members of The Westside Coalition Of Neighborhood Associations. • We are Join-A-School Partners with Ventana Ranch Elementary and James Monroe Middle Schools.• We are the charter organization for Ventana Ranch Cub Scout Pack 114 • We sponsor Spring Fiesta and Yard Sale in the Park, Christmas Parade, Parade of Lights Contest and a tamale dinner/cookie swap to foster neighborhood spirit.
